Interior Architecture Fees: How Pricing Works and What Moves the Cost
Published: July 2026 · Updated: October 2026
Interior architecture fees are set by scope, area, typology and technical content, not by a fixed tariff, and this page explains how. It does not list prices. Sabina Malikova Design Office scopes each commission individually, and budget ranges are discussed openly before design work begins. Three fee models are common in the profession: a rate per square metre, a fixed fee per project and consultancy by time. Eight factors move the figure in every model, from floor area to the measurement included. A Longevity by Design scope adds elements that a conventional interior proposal leaves out: a baseline measurement, a numeric specification and handover verification. Understanding those elements makes quotes comparable. The methodology behind the scope is at https://sabinamalikova.com/methodology; the inquiry route is at https://sabinamalikova.com/inquiry.
Three pricing models, and when each fits
Per-square-metre pricing multiplies a rate by the floor area. It suits straightforward residential interiors where rooms are similar and technical systems are limited. Per-project pricing sets one fee for a defined scope and deliverable list. It suits clinics, offices and villas, where technical content varies more than area does. Consultancy pricing charges for time rather than area, for example a scoping session or a baseline measurement with a written report. It suits single-room retrofits and second opinions. The studio does not publish a tariff. Each commission is scoped after a feasibility conversation, and budget ranges are discussed openly before design work begins. Whichever model applies, the deliverables should be written down before the fee is agreed.
Eight factors that move the fee
First, scope: full interior, retrofit or single room. Second, floor area and room count. Third, typology: a clinic with filtered ventilation and acoustic separation carries more technical design than an apartment. Fourth, building condition: a new build allows ducting, acoustic construction and lighting circuits to be planned before walls close, while an occupied retrofit must work around what exists. Fifth, the technical systems in scope: HEPA-13 filtration with MVHR, tunable-white lighting and acoustic construction each add engineering coordination. Sixth, material specification level, since low-emission finishes with documented acoustic performance take longer to source and verify. Seventh, location and site-visit logistics. Eighth, the measurement scope: baseline survey, handover verification and optional post-occupancy tracking. Timescales follow the same factors.
What a Longevity by Design scope includes
A conventional proposal covers concept, drawings and finishes. The studio's scope adds three measured stages. Before design, a baseline survey records light levels and colour temperature, PM2.5 and sound at the positions that matter, such as the bed or the desk. The specification then states targets in numbers: 4000–5000 K by day and 2200–2700 K in the evening, at least three natural elements per room, PM2.5 below 5 µg/m³ (WHO, 2021) and continuous sound under 55 dB (WHO Europe, 2018). At handover, the finished rooms are measured against those targets. Post-occupancy tracking follows where the client consents, using wearable sleep indices, the PSS-10 stress scale and continuous air monitoring. These stages are part of the scope, not extras added later.
How to get a quote you can compare
Start with the inquiry form at https://sabinamalikova.com/inquiry or an email to [email protected]. Include the property type and approximate size, the city, the target scope and the outcomes you want, such as better sleep, cleaner air or quieter rooms. State a budget range and timeline if you know them; the form has fields for both. Floor plans and photographs help but are not required. Feasible projects move to a scoping conversation, where a baseline measurement is usually proposed. The proposal that follows lists deliverables, stages and site visits. When comparing it with other offers, check whether measurement, numeric targets and handover verification are included. A lower fee that omits them is a different product, not a cheaper version of the same one.
The four pillars at a glance
- CLCI — circadian lighting: 4000–5000 K by day, 2200–2700 K in the evening
- BCS — at least three natural elements in every occupied space
- IAQM — fine-particle levels held below the WHO 2021 limit of 5 µg/m³
- AHR — continuous indoor sound kept under 55 dB
Evidence & standards
İç Mimarlık Fiyatları work follows published health thresholds. Material palettes apply the evidence behind biophilic design. Ventilation targets follow indoor air quality research. Each specification in this field is verified against its targets at handover.
Frequently asked questions
Does the studio publish interior architecture prices?
No. Fees are scoped per commission after a feasibility and scoping conversation, and budget ranges are discussed openly before design work begins. This page explains the pricing models and the factors that move the fee, so that quotes can be compared on scope rather than on headline figures.
Is pricing per square metre or per project?
Both models exist in the profession, alongside consultancy by time. Per-square-metre pricing suits similar rooms with limited technical systems. Per-project pricing suits clinics, offices and villas where technical content varies. The right model is agreed in the scoping conversation once the deliverables are defined.
What makes a Longevity by Design project cost more or less than a conventional interior?
The measured stages: a baseline survey before design, a numeric specification and handover verification. Technical systems such as HEPA-13 filtration with MVHR and tunable-white lighting add coordination. Against that, the baseline sets priorities, so budget goes to the interventions that move the numbers most.
Can I commission only a consultation or a single room?
Yes. Longevity design consultation is a listed service, and single-room retrofits are part of the portfolio. A bedroom-only commission in Ankara and an 80 m² Beyoğlu loft retrofit are completed examples. Describe the room and the outcome you want at https://sabinamalikova.com/inquiry.
