Circadian lighting brings the CLCI pillar of Longevity by Design into the home. Light is the main timekeeper of the human body clock. The wrong spectrum at the wrong hour disturbs sleep. This article explains how to design domestic light for better nights. Daytime light should run cool, at 4000–5000 K. That range supports alertness through working hours. Evening light should drop to 2200–2700 K. Warm, dim light lets melatonin rise on schedule. Morning daylight matters most. Place breakfast tables

and desks where morning sun arrives. Glare control protects visual comfort throughout the day. Tunable-white luminaires automate the daily spectrum shift. The evidence is clinical, not cosmetic. In a randomized trial, circadian-aligned lighting improved sleep quality by roughly a third. The study is Figueiro and colleagues, Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, 2020. Bedrooms deserve the strictest specification. Screens and cool light belong outside the final hour. Blackout detailing protects melatonin through the night. These moves need no new construction. Most

homes can be retrofitted room by room. A 240 m² Ankara residence applied the full methodology, including this lighting specification. Tracked sleep quality rose 38% over six months (studio project data).
